A big thank you to the BETICO team for taking the time to beautify the hallway with festive decorations!
Special thanks to Denise Sheehan’s mother for preparing a variety of delicious aguas frescas for the Central Office staff.

Thank you to Gabriel, a 5th-grade student at MacArthur Elementary School, for leading the Pledge of Allegiance in both English and Spanish, as well as the New Mexico state flag pledge, during this week’s LCPS Board of Education meeting. You did an outstanding job, Gabriel!
A big shoutout to the Mayfield High School Jazzers for their fantastic performance at Tuesday night’s LCPS Board of Education meeting! Under the direction of Rod Pior and Marissa Al-Masoud, the band energized the room with a lively rendition of “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey, arranged by Paul Murtha.
Congratulations to Michelle Ronga, LCPS Executive Director of Athletics, on being named the NMAA Southwest Athletic Director of the Year. Michelle was recognized during this week’s Board of Education regular session for her outstanding leadership and contributions to our district.
“In the world of sports, it’s rare for a rookie to come off the bench and immediately play like an MVP. But in her very first year as Executive Director of Athletics, Michelle Ronga did just that, quickly rising to the top of her game. With a heart for students, a playbook full of innovative ideas, and a vision that treats athletics as an extension of the classroom, Michelle earned the respect of her peers and was honored this summer with the Southwest Region Athletic Director of the Year award. Congratulations, Michelle, you’ve proven that even rookies can lead the league!”

On August 26, we recognize the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave many women in the United States the right to vote. This day reminds us of the importance of fairness, equal opportunities, and the ongoing work to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard.
In schools and beyond, we celebrate the contributions of women in history, education, science, leadership, and every part of life.
Let’s continue to learn, grow, and stand up for equality together.
