Every Thursday, we’re shining a spotlight on the incredible individuals who make our LCPS team thrive!
This week, we’re kicking off Thrive Thursday with a spotlight on staff members -Sean Barham, Matt Dawkins and Carrie Hale—who over the weekend played a critical role in a successful search and rescue mission to locate a pair of hikers lost in the Organ Mountains during dangerous cold temperatures. In addition to their roles with the district, these individuals volunteer their time as part of a local search and rescue team, demonstrating their commitment to making our schools and our community a place where all learners thrive. Their efforts remind us that the spirit of teamwork thrives not only in our schools but also in every corner of our community.
In honor of National School Board Appreciation Month, the Mayfield High School FFA Chapter expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the LCPS Board of Education last night, recognizing their dedication and tireless efforts to ensure every student receives the education they deserve.
The New Mexico Music Educators Association has awarded the 2025 District Award of Distinction to Las Cruces Public Schools. Last night the board recognized the district’s fine arts program for this prestigious honor and outstanding commitment and dedication to music education. Joseph Flores, Director of Fine Arts, accepted the honor.
Let's give a big round of applause to Beth Borchert-Thomas, Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in Las Cruces, for being honored as the NMMEA Emeritus Teacher of the Year! Although retired, Beth remains a dedicated advocate for music education, continuing to serve both the music community and students at LCPS with unwavering passion and commitment.

Las Cruces Public Schools is seeking feedback from families regarding calendar options for the 2025-26 school year. Three calendar options are currently under consideration, and drafts for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years will follow similar structures to the proposed options (A, B, and C).

This prestigious honor recognizes the outstanding commitment and dedication of LCPS to music education. With great pride, LCPS Deputy Superintendent, Dr. Wendi Miller-Tomlinson, accepted the award, celebrating the hard work and passion of our educators, students, and community.
LCPS remains on a two-hour delay today. Roads are clear and buses are moving. Pickup times and start times are two hours later than usual.

Las Cruces Public Schools is proud to announce that the Las Cruces High School Chamber Orchestra will perform as the 2025 New Mexico Music Educators Association All-State Honor Jazz Ensemble on January 8th, 4:30pm at UNM Popejoy Hall.

December is a month filled with opportunities to express love, gratitude, kindness — and if you can, help others during a time of need.
As the temperatures drop, many of our very own neighbors in the community struggle to stay warm during the winter season. That is why Las Cruces Public Schools is asking for your support to help spread kindness in community.
From Dec. 8, through Jan. 8, LCPS will be collecting new or used blankets, coats, gloves, socks, or other warm clothing to help those who need it most.
Please consider making a donation at any of our donation drop boxes located at 505 S. Main St., Suite 249 in Central Office, TLC, Operations, and the Health Services building.
Las Cruces Public Schools will host a Town Hall meeting for Spanish-speaking families to discuss the redistricting plan for LCPS.
The Town Hall meeting will be held tonight, Dec. 5 at the Dr. Karen M. Trujillo Administration Complex, at 5:30 p.m.
The process of redistricting is outlined in Policy JCAA, which gives the Board of Education authority to alter geographic attendance zones based on the opening of new schools or shifts in population.

El distrito de las Escuelas Públicas de Las Cruces está organizando una reunión pública para familias de habla hispana para hablar sobre el plan de reestructuración distrital de LCPS.
La reunión se llevará a cabo esta noche, 5 de diciembre, en el Complejo Administrativo Dra. Karen M. Trujillo, a las 5:30 p.m.
El proceso de reestructuración distrital está detallado en la Política JCAA, que otorga a la Mesa Directiva de Educación la autoridad para modificar las zonas geográficas de asistencia escolar en función de la apertura de nuevas escuelas o cambios en la población.
